Senior Unix Systems Administrator

RESPONSIBILITIES -

Working in an HP-UX and Linux environment, in a System administration role. Personally responsible for day to day issues and Disaster Recovery practices. Automating system administration tasks and audit reports using Bash, KSH, and Perl.

Currently working in an Redhat Linux on VMWare environment, along with HPUX on an Itanium blade.

Previous HP9000 environments have included R, K, L, N , V class, RP7410 ,RP8400, RP4440, and RP3440 machines. These have been configured as standalone servers, Vpars and Npars.

The Linux environment has included standalone server machines, IBM/HP Blades, and VMWare virtual machines running Redhat Enterprise Linux.

The storage environment has been primarily a Fibre connected SAN environment including Shark, DS6800, XIV, 3Par, NetApp, Symmetrix and Compaq arrays.

I have worked with M/C Service Guard in both the HPUX and Linux environment to facilitate the failover of Oracle and other databases.

Application Software supported includes Oracle, Smallworld, Ardent Datastage, Arbor Essbase, Business Objects - Document Agent Server, MQSeries, Powerbuilder, OmniBack, along with other proprietary custom applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES -

First Data Solutions - Worked in a HP-UX environment in a System administration role. Implementing a new project in a clustered MC/ServiceGuard environment, the clusters are setup on 2 T600's and 2 K570's, the system also includes 2 D350's for testing/development. The T600's and K570's are connected to a shared EMC disk enclosure. Application software supported are Oracle, CICS, and MQSeries.

US West Communications - Worked in a HP-UX environment in a Distributed Application Support role. Utilizing HP-UX servers and X-Terminals. Responsible for monitoring and trouble shooting of multiple applications, and user problems. Instrumental in developing automated application release scripts and procedures.
Supporting Applications in an HP-UX environment.
Monitoring and trouble shooting Unix Applications and system problems.
Communications between Clients and Development personnel to resolve application problems.
Application release installation and automation. HP-UX system adminstration and user administration.

PROGRAMMER/ANALYST I.

RESPONSIBILITIES -

The programming and management of a 64 line Periphonics VPS 7500 Voice Response Unit for production usage, and the 16 line development system. working with release 4.2-1 of the Periphonics operating system. programming in Periphonics COBOL, with both systems utilizing dual X.25 host cards for client/server connections to a Tandem mainframe. Designed and implemented VRU demonstration programming, and also designed and implemented Spanish VRU capability.

Responsible for the maintenance of 2 Novell 3.12 servers and over 100 PC's running Dos and Windows for WorkGroups utilizing Token Ring and ethernet connectivity, and MLAD gateways to the Tandem Mainframe. Implemented Server Hardware upgrades and dual Token Rings on servers.

Assumed additional management responsibilities over a PC based VRU using OS/2, Edify, and Talkthrough with a Windows NT server running SQL Server and workstations using Windows For Workgroups, Access 2.0 and Visual Basic applications.

Duties also included working on the Tandem mainframe using SQLCI, and Tandem system utilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES -

Member of rapid response programming team, servicing the high profile/volume clients. responsible for the development and maintenance of data entry screens for inbound order taking. using a Tandem Screen COBOL-85 based code generator, in a Windows PC/ Novell LAN environment.
