After the trip to the river, the alignment was out of whack. The holes
in the cam washers on the upper control arms were round, when they should
have had a flat side. I had to weld in new material, and grind out the
correct shape with my dremel. I ground a bolt flat on one side until it
fit into the stock washer. Then I used it to check the fit of the hole
after welding/grinding of the damaged washer.
Then after a little research, I decided that doing an alignment myself
wouldnt be that difficult. I bought a Rebco caster/camber gauge from
Ultimate Racing(85th & maple, Omaha). I have a near-perfect,
level slab at the front of my driveway. With two pieces of cardboard under
each wheel, and the truck level from side to side. I then was able to
align the truck using the instructions from the Rebco gauge.
I had to re-align it again after finding out that the 'new' wheel hub
on the passenger side was worn out after 2000 miles. I replaced the hub,
re-leveled the truck. Then re-aligned it again. I have checked it again a
couple of weeks later, and it's still correct. I also marked the adjusting
washers so that I can make a quick visual check of the alignment.
