4L60E built for High Performance and durability

After driving the truck for the 100,020 miles, the transmission decided it was time to have a major malfunction. It would shift gears like an indecisive elected official. In third/fourth it would sometimes just let go, and let the engine rev like the tires were spinning in mud. I pulled the pan, and it was covered in dark material. I put it back together and started calling transmission shops around omaha. I would have liked to rebuild it myself, but I didnt have the time to learn.

After calling several places, I tried Certified Transmissions on 132nd & Q. I had previously bought a TH-400 transmission from a guy that worked at that shop about ten years ago. The transmission was a full manual transmission that stood up to a lot of hard miles with a 3500 stall convertor sitting behind a mild 355 chevy with nitrous.( as a side note, the guy that built the TH400 now runs the rebuild center for Certified Transmissions)

I decided on certified after calling several other shops, because of the previous transmission, and the current manager (Rick) gave me the best impression that they would know what they were doing, and wouldnt give me a thousand disclaimers about putting a transmission in a late-model lifted truck with 38's.

As it happens, I did pick the right shop. Even with the christmas holiday, they got the transmission done, and answered all of my questions without hesitation. There is alot to be said about customer service, and they went out of their way to get the transmission done and gave me the pictures to document the event. The transmission now has kevlar bands, five-pinion planetary gears and every other heavy-duty upgrade to help it survive the heavy left foot and daily duty that my truck gets.

If you need a transmission, and want it done/done right, then give them a call at Certified Transmissions on 132nd & Q.

Pictures to be posted soon........
